Whether you’re planning a new computer network or documenting an existing network, get started faster with a template.

Open a network diagram template

  1. Select File > New.

  2. Select the Network category.

  3. Select Basic Network Diagram, and select Create.

Turn on AutoConnect

  • Go to View, and select AutoConnect.

Show connection points

  • Go to View, and select Connection Points.

Add shapes

  1. From the Network and Peripherals and Computers and Monitors stencils, drag shapes onto the drawing page.

    Tip: Select More Shapes > Network to find more network stencils.

  2. Select a shape on the page, and type a label for it. To finish, select a blank area of the drawing page.

    Note: To move the text, select the shape and drag the yellow text handle until the text is where you want it.

  1. Select Home > Connector.

  2. Draw a line between two shapes.

  3. To finish, select Home > Pointer Tool.

  1. From the Network and Peripherals stencil, drag the legend shape onto the drawing page.

  2. Select Legend Subtitle, and type a new subtitle.

  3. To finish, select a blank area of the drawing page.
